It’s fresh and flavorful – juicy ripe pineapple is the star of the show in this salsa, which is great all on its own, but combining it with a few other flavorful ingredients takes things to the next level!
You just need a few ingredients – all you need are just a few simple ingredients to bring this salsa to life which makes it great to pull together in a pinch!
It’s easy – seriously, it couldn’t be easier to make this salsa. Just chop, combine, let sit, and then serve.
Pineapple: The base of this salsa is sweet and juicy fresh pineapple. To save yourself some time, feel free to buy pre-cut pineapple chunks and then dice them into even smaller pieces.
Red Onion: Fresh red onion gives the salsa the best flavor. You can rinse or soak the red onion in cold water before using to take away some of the ‘bite’.
Jalapeño: Diced jalapeño adds just a little heat to the salsa along with flavor.
Cilantro: You can’t have salsa without fresh cilantro!
Salt: Just a bit to season the salsa.
Lime: You’ll need fresh lime juice and zest for this recipe! Nothing is wasted!
How to Make Pineapple Salsa

Step Three: Season to taste and then serve or chill until ready to serve!
Tips for the Best Salsa
Choose Ripe Pineapples: When choosing pineapples for this recipe be sure that they are nice and ripe for the best sweet and juicy flavor. Your pineapple should have a golden color and give slightly when pressed. Avoid pineapples that are still too green.
Balance the Flavors: You want to be sure that the salsa has the right blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. Give the pineapple a taste before using. If it’s particularly sweet, you might want to add a bit more lime juice to the salsa.
Dice It Up: For the best salsa, you want to chop all the ingredients, including the pineapple, into small, uniform pieces. That way you get a little bit of everything in every single bite.
Let the Flavors Meld: Before serving, let the pineapple salsa sit for 30 minutes to give all the flavors a chance to come together.
Kick Up the Heat: If you like your salsa on the spicier side, then leave the ribs and seeds of the jalapeño intact when dicing to add a bit of extra heat.
Serve It Right Away: I find that pineapple salsa tastes its very best the first or second day. I like to prepare it the same morning I plan to serve.
Adjust the sweetness: If you like your salsa on the sweeter side, feel free to add a touch of honey!
