Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients

Frozen strawberries: using frozen strawberries will make the smoothie cold and creamy without the use of any ice which tends to water down smoothies. Frozen strawberries are also a great choice to use in the colder months when fresh berries are not in season.

Banana: try to use a ripe banana for the best results. Ripe bananas will have the most flavor and be the sweetest.

Plain Greek yogurt: adding plain Greek yogurt to your smoothies is a great way to increase their protein content. Yogurt also adds a nice tang and extra creaminess to the smoothie as well.

Milk: this recipe uses almond milk but you could use any milk you prefer. Oat milk, coconut milk, or plain dairy milk would work well, too.

Vanilla extract: this might seem like an unusual addition to a smoothie but it really adds a delicious flavor and makes the drink even more delicious.

Honey: this is an optional ingredient that you may or may not need. Depending on the sweetness of your strawberries and the ripeness of the banana, you may find that your smoothie is sweet enough. However, if your fruit is not as ripe as you would like, a small squeeze of honey may be useful.

Let’s Make a Smoothie

Step One: The first step is to add your liquid to the bottom of a high-powered blender.

Step Two: Next, add the frozen strawberries, ripe banana, and Greek yogurt.

Step Three: Now, add the vanilla extract, honey, and any additional ingredients you would like to include.

Step Four: Blend everything for 30 seconds to a minute until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy.

How to Meal Prep Your Smoothies in Advance

Meal prepping your smoothies in advance is a great way to save time in the morning at breakfast or in the afternoon when you need a quick snack.

To meal prep a few smoothies at a time, just place all of the smoothie ingredients, except the liquid, in a small freezer bag. Place the bag in the freezer until you are ready to use.

Once you are ready to blend the smoothie, add the liquid to your blender and then pour in the contents of your frozen smoothie bag. Blend on high until completely smooth.

Can You Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie Without Yogurt?

Yes! If you would like to keep this recipe completely dairy free, feel free to leave the Greek yogurt out of this smoothie completely.

If you want to keep things dairy free but still like to include some yogurt in your smoothie, you can also use a dairy-free yogurt.

Ways to Customize Your Smoothie

Feel free to get creative and add extra boosts to your smoothie. Below are a few great additions to add to your smoothie:

  • protein powder
  • collagen powder
  • ground flax seeds
  • chia seeds
  • hemp seeds
  • nut butter

Tips and Tricks for the Creamiest Smoothie

  • Add the liquids first – adding the liquids to your smoothie first will help everything to blend more evenly which will give you a smoother and creamier smoothie.
  • Use frozen fruit – frozen fruit helps to keep the smoothie creamy and cold without the use of any ice.
  • Ditch the ice – speaking of ice, the pitfall of a lot of smoothies is the use of ice. Ice waters down the smoothie, changes the consistency from creamy to icy, and just does not give you that delicious smooth texture that everyone loves.
  • Use ripe fruit – if it’s the summer, when fruit is its best and in season, I highly recommend freezing ripe fresh fruit instead of buying pre-frozen fruit from the freezer section. It will make your smoothie even more flavorful and delicious.
