Smoothie Ingredients:

Banana: This smoothie gets it’s creamy texture from frozen banana. The more ripe your banana is the sweeter the smoothie will be.

Greek Yogurt: This adds a bit of extra protein and healthy fats to the smoothie. You can use plain whole milk Greek yogurt of low-fat, if you prefer.

Peanut Butter: For that rich peanut butter flavor! Be sure to use an unsweetened, creamy, all natural peanut butter without any additional ingredients outside of peanuts.

Dates: This works as a natural sweetener to help sweeten the smoothie a bit. If you do not have dates you could use a bit of maple syrup or honey instead.

Cinnamon: This spice works well with the flavor of the banana and peanut butter.

Vanilla Extract: Just a little to give the smoothie a delicious vanilla flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this recipe dairy free?

Yes! Feel free to leave the yogurt out altogether or just use your favorite non-dairy yogurt instead.

Do I have to use almond milk?

No! This recipe would also work well with cashew milk, oat milk, or dairy milk.

Do I have to freeze the banana?

You don’t have to but if you want the smoothie to be thick and creamy, freezing the banana will give you the best results.

Can I substitute the peanut butter for another nut butter?

Yes! Feel free to use almond butter, cashew butter, or your favorite nut butter of choice. It will change the flavor of the smoothie a bit but will still be delicious.

Optional Add-Ins

If you want to add a few extra boosts to your smoothie here are a few of my favorite additions:

  • fresh baby spinach
  • protein powder
  • collagen powder
  • ground flax seeds
  • chia seeds
  • hemp seeds

Tips and Tricks for the Creamiest Smoothie

  • Add the liquids first – adding the liquids to your smoothie first will help everything to blend more evenly which will give you a smoother and creamier smoothie.
  • Use frozen fruit – frozen fruit helps to keep the smoothie creamy and cold without the use of any ice.
  • Ditch the ice – speaking of ice, the pitfall of a lot of smoothies is the use of ice. Ice waters down the smoothie, changes the consistency from creamy to icy, and just does not give you that delicious smooth texture that everyone loves.

  1. Love this recipe! It’s been my go to for the past couple of months! I add collagen and protein powder and use a splash of maple syrup instead of a date.

  2. RODNEY SYKES says:

Great recipe! I made it this morning and it was delicious. I used almond milk instead of dairy milk and it turned out great. The peanut butter banana flavor was perfect and it was the perfect thickness. I also added a scoop of vanilla protein powder to up the protein content. This will definitely be a regular in my breakfast rotation. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I needed a change up to my weekly yogurt and this recipe was perfect!

  4. Really yummy, smooth, creamy consistency. Didn’t have the date and it was sour from the Greek yogurt so I added a scoop of peanut butter protein powder to help sweeten it. Wish it was a larger portion but I understand the peanut butter adds a lot of calories. I would say this is a nice snack especially after a workout ☺️ Thanks for the recipe
