Turkey Burger Ingredients

Ground Turkey: this recipes calls for a pound and a half of ground turkey. Feel free to use lean ground turkey breast or dark meat ground turkey.

Fresh Dill: we’re using plenty of fresh dill to drive home that delicious Greek flavor. You can swap it for dried dill if that is all you have on hand. Use one teaspoon of dried dill for every tablespoon of fresh.

Crumbled Feta: adds the perfect salty bite and punch of flavor to each burger.

Spinach: fresh spinach is delicious in these burgers and packs in a little extra nutrition.

Red Onion: I like to dice mine on the smaller side so that you don’t have huge chunks of red onion in bites of your burgers.

Roasted Red Peppers: you can usually find these in a jar near the olives in your local grocery store. They are absolutely delicious and add so much flavor to the burgers.

Spices: speaking of flavor, we’re using a robust combination of spices in these burgers. You’ll need a combination of oregano, parsley, paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper.

Burger Ingredient Variations

  • Feta – need to keep these burgers dairy free? leave out the crumbled feta cheese altogether or swap it with your favorite dairy free version.
  • Veggies – if you’d like to customize these burgers you can easily do so my leaving out certain veggies or adding a few more in. You could even try adding in chopped kalamata olives.

What to Serve with Your Turkey Burgers

How to Grill the Burgers

I’ve made these burgers on both the stovetop and the grill and both ways are absolutely delicious! I usually grill them over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees. Be sure your grill is oiled a bit to prevent sticking.

Can You Make the Burgers in the Oven?

Yes! just form the patties and bake the burgers on a greased baking sheet at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165.

How to Freeze

Yes! you can prep the burger patties and freeze them before cooking so that I have a quick and easy dinner or lunch option.

You can freeze the patties individually or use sheets parchment paper to separate two or three patties that have been stack on top of each other. Using the parchment paper sheets ensures that the patties don’t turn into one giant hunk of ground turkey.

How to Prep Ahead of Time

Sure! you can easily cook the burgers and then reheat them in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute until warmed through.

Tips and Tricks for the Best Turkey Burgers

  • Use your hands to mix the burgers and prevent over mixing. Wet your fingers to help the meat mixture from sticking to your fingers.
  • Place the patties on wax or parchment paper to avoid them sticking to your plate or each other.
  • Avoid pressing the burgers down in the skillet while they are cooking. This will ensure you get super juicy burgers.
  • Use a meat thermometer to cook the burgers perfectly and prevent over or under cooking them.
  • Toast those buns! don’t forget to toast your burger buns a bit before assembling your burgers.

  1. These were sooo good. It always amazes me how simple your recipes are but how packed they are with flavor – you really are so good at what you do! Super easy & still delicious even with a few modifications: I added some onion powder and pickle juice to the tzatziki just to thin it out & we didn’t have roasted red pepper so I sautéed some red bell pepper in a a few Tbsp of oil with a little salt. I also toasted our buns with some garlic & herb butter before serving & made some crispy shawarma potatoes to go with. 10/10, will be adding to our recipe rotation!

  2. Love this recipe, the flavor of the burger is outstanding. The meat mixture was pretty quick to come together. Froze the Patties and thawed before cooking, definitely keeping my freezer stocked with these for quick and tasty dinners!!
