Tips and Tricks

  • Use fresh garlic, not jarred pre-minced garlic or powder. I know that garlic can be a pain to peel but trust me, the flavor of the fresh stuff is worth it.
  • Use full fat canned coconut milk for the best results. You can usually find full fat coconut milk in the Asian ingredients aisle of your local grocery store. If it does not specify “light” on the can then it is full fat.
  • Adjust the seasoning to satisfy your tastebuds. As with all recipes, you can adjust the seasoning to to your liking. Feel free to use less salt or more than the recipe calls for.
  • Keep this recipe Whole30 compliant. If you need to be sure that your dairy free ranch dressing is Whole30 compliant, be sure to use a Whole30 compliant mayonnaise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use almond milk instead of coconut milk?

I have not tested this ranch dressing with almond milk and I personally think it would be a bit too watery if used. If you cannot tolerate coconut milk, feel free to give almond milk a try and see what you think!

What can I substitute for mayo?

I have not tried it in this recipe but if you do not like mayo, and do not need to keep the recipe dairy-free, you can try using full-fat plain Greek yogurt or sour cream as a substitute for the mayonnaise.

Can I use dried herbs instead of fresh?

If you do not have fresh herbs, you can try using dried herbs for this recipe instead. The standard conversion for fresh herbs to dried herbs is one teaspoon of dried herbs for every tablespoon of fresh herbs. Once the ranch is blended, give it a taste and play around with the amount of dried herbs to reach your desired taste.
