Tips for the Best Crispy Oven Baked Chicken Wings

Here are a few tips for the best crispy oven baked chicken wings:

  • Line your sheet pan with parchment paper. This helps keep the chicken wings from sticking to the pan. It also makes cleaning up simple and easy.

  • Use a little oil. Just one tablespoon of oil will go a long way to help the wings get nice and crispy.

  • Bake the wings at 425. For the crispiest wings, you have to bake them at a higher temperature. Cooking the wings at 425 will help you get that golden crispy chicken skin.

  • Cook the wings long enough. Wings have a good amount of fat on them which means they will not dry out when cooked at a higher temperature for a little while. Let your wings bake for around 40 minutes and do not forget to flip them halfway through.

  • Make sure the wings are fully thawed out and pat them dry. Do not skip this step to make sure you get the maximum crispy-ness on your wigs. Patting the chicken wings dry, once they have fully thawed out, helps to ensure that there is no extra moisture on the wings so that they can get nice and crispy.

Can You Make These Wings in the Air Fryer?

Yes! You can definitely make these wings in the air fryer. To do so, air fry the wings for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. To help the wings cook evenly, give the air fryer basket a shake halfway through to ensure that all of the wings get nice and crispy. Depending on the size of your air fryer basket you may need to make the wings in two batches.
