Some recipes are just easier than others and this one is an EASY one. You basically just coat the salmon in a glaze, pop it in the oven, bake for a few minutes, and dinner is done!

What makes this recipe so good is the delicious honey sriracha glaze on top. The glaze is a combination of honey and sriracha, of course, as well as a few other seasonings that make it out of this world good.

Honey Sriracha Salmon Glaze Ingredients

What makes this baked salmon absolutely perfect is the delicious honey sriracha glaze on top. It coats the salmon as it bakes so that every single bite has a little bit of sweet, tangy, sesame flavor. Making a glaze for your salmon, instead of just seasoning it with a few spices, might sound a little complicated but trust me, it is not! You only need a few ingredients to whip up this flavorful sauce. You likely already have everything you need!

Sriracha: This chili sauce adds just the right amount of heat and chili flavor to the salmon.

Honey: Honey helps to balance out the heat of the sriracha and create a sweet and sticky glaze that coats the salmon. Don’t have any honey on hand? Feel free to use maple syrup instead!

Coconut Aminos: Coconut aminos are often used in replace of soy sauce in Paleo dishes. They are made from coconut tree sap and have a slightly more sweet flavor than traditional soy sauce. If you do not have coconut aminos, feel free to use soy sauce instead.

Rice Vinegar: Helps to add a little tang and cut through the sweetness of the sauce.

Lime Juice: All seafood needs a little citrus, right? Lime juice works really well with the flavors of the sauce ingredients.

Sesame Oil: This helps to give the sauce that Asian-inspired flavor. If you do not have any, just leave it out.

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Coconut Aminos – if you don’t have coconut aminos, I highly recommend grabbing a jar for this recipe. They have subtly sweet, slightly salty, and delicious flavor that works really well in this sauce. If you substitute soy sauce for coconut aminos the dish will likely be a bit too salty.
  • Honey – you can easily swap the honey for maple syrup if you prefer.

How to Make This Easy Honey Sriracha Salmon Recipe

This recipe could not be more simple, which makes it perfect for a busy weeknight or when you do not feel like spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

Step One: The first step is to make the honey sriracha glaze. To do this, add all of the glaze ingredients to a small mixing bowl and stir until well combined.

Step Two: Place the salmon filets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Season them liberally with salt and pepper. Then, use a basting brush to spread the glaze evenly on each salmon filet. Don’t skimp here! Use up all of that delicious honey sriracha glaze.

Step Three: Bake the salmon at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the filets.

Step Four: Remove the salmon from the oven, garnish with green onion and sesame seeds, and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for the Best Salmon

This recipe is incredibly simple, but there are a few key tips and tricks that will ensure you get perfectly cooked salmon every single time.

  • Pat your salmon dry before cooking to make sure that the glaze properly sticks to each piece of fish. To do this, just use paper towels to gently pat the salmon until completely dry.
  • Use parchment paper! This helps to make sure that the salmon or any glaze does not stick to the pan. Plus, it makes cleaning up super easy.
  • Do not overcook your salmon. It really probably only needs 8-10 minutes.

How Do I Know When Salmon is Done?

The easiest way to know when your salmon is done is by using an instant read meat thermometer. Salmon is considered well done when the internal temperature of the thickest part reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, if you like your salmon more medium-rare then you can cook it between 125 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. If you prefer your salmon medium (my personal preference!) then shoot for a range between 135 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you do not have an instant read meat thermometer then you can press down on the top of the salmon fillet with your finger or fork. If the salmon easily “flakes” or separates then you know that it is done.

Can I Make the Honey Sriracha Glaze in Advance?

Yes! If you want to do some prep in advance, you can make the honey sriracha glaze in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge.

When you are ready to make the salmon, pull out the glaze ten to fifteen minutes in advance so that it can come to room temperature. This will ensure that it is easy to spread on the salmon filets.

Can I Eat Salmon Skin?

Yes! I prefer to remove the skin from my salmon fillets before making this recipe with a sharp knife. However, if you enjoy salmon skin then you are welcome to leave it on.

How to Store: If you have leftovers, I recommend storing the salmon in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to two days. 

How to Reheat: My favorite ways to reheat this honey sriracha salmon are either in a hot skillet with a bit of oil or on a baking sheet in the oven at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes or until warmed through.

  • 44 oz salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
  • ½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ½ tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
