This Strawberry Smoothie is made with just six simple ingredients. It’s sweet, creamy, and perfect breakfast or afternoon snack!
The Best Creamy Strawberry Smoothie
I love to get a little creative with unique combinations like my creamy coffee smoothie or my orange creamsicle smoothie, but sometimes you just need to go back to the classics. This creamy strawberry smoothie is made with just a few simple ingredients, comes together fast, and even has a bit of protein from Greek Yogurt. You can’t beat a good strawberry smoothie and this one is perfect for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack!
Smoothie Ingredients
Strawberries: I prefer to use frozen strawberries to keep this smoothie cold and creamy without the need for ice, which tends to water down smoothies. However, you can use fresh if that’s all you have.
Almond milk: this recipe uses almond milk but you could use any milk you prefer. Oat milk, coconut milk, or plain dairy milk would work well, too.
Yogurt: plain Greek yogurt helps to make the smoothie extra creamy and adds a bit of extra protein.
Almond Butter: I love adding a little nut butter to my smoothies for the addition of some healthy fats.
Vanilla Extract: just a touch adds some vanilla flavor and brings out the sweetness of the strawberries.
Honey: this adds a touch of sweetness since we’re not using a banana or additional sweetener. Feel free to use maple syrup, or omit it completely if preferred.
Smoothie Variations
- Make it dairy-free – you can leave out the Greek yogurt entirely, or swap it out for your favorite dairy-free Greek-style yogurt instead! The smoothie should still be pretty creamy without the yogurt if you use frozen strawberries.
- Add in some veggies – this smoothie pairs well with the addition of fresh spinach, kale, or frozen cauliflower. So, feel free to add in a handful for a boost of extra veggies and fiber if you like!
- Swap the almond butter – if you prefer, you can use cashew butter, pecan butter, peanut butter, or even a mixed nut butter instead of almond butter. If you use peanut butter just know that it will give the smoothie a bit of a peanut flavor.
- Swap the berries – Feel free to use raspberries, blueberries, or any other berries you like best. You could also do a combination of half strawberries and half another variety of berries.
Ways to Customize
Since everything is blended, I ove to use smoothies as a way to get in extra protein or other nutrients. Here are a few of my favorite things to add:
- Protein Powder – this unflavored whey protein powder is my favorite and something I use every day. I always add it to my smoothies when I’m making one to drink as a meal. Feel free to experiment with different flavored proteins as well.
- Collagen Powder – I love adding a scoop of collagen powder for an extra hit of protein to keep me feeling full. This is also a great option to use instead of protein powder.
- Ground Flax Seeds – these flaxseeds are full of health benefits, and you can’t even taste them! Flax seeds are a great source of fiber, plant-based protein, and healthy fats!
- Chia Seeds – I recommend adding anywhere between a half to one teaspoon or so of chia seeds. Any more than that, and they might change the texture of the smoothie too much. Be sure to drink it right away or it’ll turn into chia pudding!
- Hemp Seeds – another seed that I love to add to my smoothies is hemp seedsfor all the health benefits. I usually add 1/2 a tablespoon.
- Oats – I love adding 1/4 cup of old-fashioned oats to my smoothies for even more fiber and whole grains. You can’t even taste them!

How to Make
Step One: Add all the ingredients to a high-powered blender.
Step Two: Blend until smooth and creamy, and enjoy!
Tips for the Best Strawberry Smoothie
- Add the liquid first – add your liquid to the base of the blender first. This helps make the smoothie easier to blend.
- Start slow – for the best results, start the blender speed on low, and gradually turn it up before bringing it to full speed. This ensures all the ingredients blend completely and that you’re not left with huge chunks.
- Use frozen produce – to get a really thick and creamy texture, be sure to use frozen berries. Fresh fruit will create a runnier consistency that will still be delicious but not as thick.
- Skip the ice – if you typically add a ton of ice to your smoothies it may be tempting to add it to this one but trust me you do not need it. The frozen fruit is all you need to keep the smoothie cold and creamy.
- Use ripe fruit – if you’re making this recipe in the spring or summer when strawberries are in season, I recommend using fresh strawberries and freezing them yourself. Strawberry season is spring and early summer so take advantage of those really delicious strawberries!
