Baked Ham Ingredients

Ham: you’ll need an 8 pound pre-cooked bone-in spiral sliced ham for this recipe. I like to go with a bone-in ham because they have a better flavor and texture than boneless ham. Plus, you can save the bone to use in soups and stews. The spiral slicing makes serving a breeze and it also makes it even easier for you to get the glaze into every crevice.

Butter: I like to use unsalted butter for this recipe.

Honey and Maple Syrup: to give the ham that delicious maple honey flavor we’re using a combination of both honey and pure maple syrup. Make sure you’re using maple syrup and not pancake syrup.

Pineapple Juice: the combination of ham and pineapple is a match made in heaven. You’ll need half a cup for the glaze. If you don’t have pineapple juice you could always swap it for orange juice instead.

Brown Sugar: go with dark brown sugar for a deeper richer flavor.

Dijon Mustard: a bit of dijon mustard adds a bit of tang to the ham.

Spices: we’re using a combination of paprika, garlic powder, allspice, and cinnamon.

How to Make This Glazed Ham Recipe

Step One: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a large roasting pan with nonstick spray or line with heavy duty foil.

Step Two: Remove your ham from the packaging and discard any packaging that came with it like netting, plastic disc, etc. Rinse the ham under cold water and then pat dry and add to prepared roasting pan.

Step Three: Add the glaze ingredients to a medium sauce pan and then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let the glaze simmer for 4-6 minutes or until it thickens and starts to become syrupy.

Step Four: Brush half the glaze over the ham and then cover tightly with foil. Bake the ham for 10-12 minutes per pound at 350 degrees, around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Step Five: After baking, remove the ham from the oven and remove the foil. Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees.

Step Five: Brush the remaining glaze over the ham, being sure to get some in between the slices of ham to ensure that the ham is thoroughly covered. Return the ham to the 400 degree oven to continue to cook for 15-20 minutes or until the glaze becomes brown and caramelized. If you like, you can broil the ham for 2-3 minutes to really help the glaze caramelize.

Step Six: Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest before slicing and serving with a drizzle of the pan drippings over top. Enjoy!

Ways to Use Leftover Ham

How to Store

Store: you can store any leftover ham in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Freeze: if you prefer to freeze your leftovers, transfer them to a freezer safe storage container and store in the freezer for up to two months.

Made this, Easter Sunday. It was such an easy and tasty recipe. The flavor was well balanced. The kids enjoyed it, even the one who’s picky about meat.
