Apple Pie Smoothie Ingredients

Unsweetened applesauce: I like to use an unsweetened applesauce for this recipe which allows me to better control the level of sweetness. If you want even more cinnamon flavor, feel free to use unsweetened cinnamon applesauce instead of regular.

Frozen banana: this helps to add a bit of sweetness and makes the smoothie rich and creamy.

Full fat Greek yogurt: for an added punch of healthy fats and protein!

Maple syrup: this sweetens up the smoothie and gives it an extra bit of delicious maple flavor.

Planet Oat Unsweetened Vanilla Oatmilk: this creamy unsweetened vanilla oatmilk is free of dairy, gluten, soy, and peanuts which makes it a great option for everyone no matter their dietary preferences. The vanilla flavor works perfectly with the rest of the ingredients in the smoothie and is the perfect addition. Planet Oat Vanilla Oatmilk is also available, for anyone who prefers a sweeter treat.

Vanilla extract: for an extra hit of delicious vanilla flavor.

Spices: for that true apple pie flavor, this smoothie uses a combination of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and ginger.

Pecan butter: creamy nut butter helps to really make this smoothie taste just like apple pie.

Tips and Tricks for the Best Smoothie

  • Add the liquid first – add your Planet Oat Vanilla Oatmilk to the base of the blender first. This helps make it easier for the smoothie to blend well.
  • Start slow – start the blender speed on low and then gradually turn it up before bringing it to full speed to ensure that the ingredients break down and blend completely.
  • Use frozen fruit – for this recipe it’s important your banana is frozen to ensure you get that delicious creamy texture.
  • Ditch the ice – if you typically add ice to your smoothies it may be tempting to add it to this one but trust me you do not need it. Just use a frozen banana instead to keep things cold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this smoothie vegan?

Yes! feel free to use your favorite dairy-free Greek yogurt or just leave it out completely.

How do I turn this into an apple protein smoothie?

I love adding a scoop of my favorite protein powder to this smoothie. For the best results, I recommend using a vanilla flavored or unflavored protein powder.

Can use honey instead of maple syrup?

Sure! you could also use a soaked, softened date as a sweetener as well.

What can I substitute for pecan butter?

Almond or cashew butter would both work well as a substitute! I recommend staying away from peanut butter as it will change the flavor of the smoothie.

  1. These were so good! What a treat!

  2. Made this today and it was a great fall treat while Texas is still in the 100s. It was a little sweet for me, even with the unseasoned apple sauce. I will probably omit the maple syrup (even though that flavor was great!) I added in some vanilla protein powder and it was fantastic. Thank you for another fun fall smoothie change up!
