This homemade Avocado Salsa recipe is a must make all year but especially in the warmer months when all you want to do is sit poolside with your favorite drinks and snacks! It’s incredibly easy to make and I love the way that my recipe really amps up the flavor with both fresh lime juice and lime zest. I’ve made this countless times and I honestly can’t believe I haven’t shared the recipe with you yet. Make it as your next snack or serve it as a topping on burrito bowls or as a side with your favorite protein. You can’t go wrong!

Why You’ll Love This Avocado Salsa Recipe

One taste of this avocado salsa and it’s all you’ll want to eat! Ok, that’s a little dramatic but seriously this stuff is so good.

  • Quick & Easy – Just chop the veggies, combine, and serve!
  • Versatile – Dial up the heat, add more seasonings, or mix and match different ingredients. There are endless ways to make this recipe your own!
  • The Perfect Flavor Boost – Of course, this salsa is fabulous on it’s own with tortilla chips, but I also love to add it to main courses like taco bowls, fish taco bowls, and sausage breakfast burritos for extra flavor.

Key Ingredients and Notes

This is an overview of the main ingredients in this recipe. See the recipe card for full ingredients and instructions, below.

  • Avocados: you’ll need 3 ripe, peeled avocados. I like to go with avocados that are ripe but not too soft for the best texture.
  • Veggies: cherry tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and garlic add lots of flavor. If you don’t like things on the spicier side then make sure to remove the membrane and seeds from your jalapeño before dicing.
  • Cilantro: a must-have in any good salsa! If you aren’t a fan, you can omit it, but the flavor won’t be quite the same.
  • Lime: we’re using both lime juice and lime zest to add a pop of bright, citrus flavor. I think this really makes it!

How to Store

This avocado salsa recipe is best served the day it is made, while all the veggies are still crisp and fresh. However, if needed, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Just give it a quick stir to redistribute the ingredients before serving.
