Garlic Butter Steak Bites! Tender steak seasoned with garlic, butter, and fresh herbs will be your new favorite weeknight dinner! This simple recipe only takes twenty minutes to make!
I am a huge fan of quick, easy, one skillet meals. I don’t mind spending a little extra time in the kitchen, but I absolutely love creating quick one skillet recipes that only take minutes to make from start to finish.
This recipe for garlic butter steak bites is another delicious recipe that you can add to your list of one-skillet favorites.
This recipe has it all – tender steak, lots of fresh garlic, and delicious flavorful butter (or ghee if you prefer!) It’s one of those hearty, satisfying, stick to your ribs meals that will take you no time to make and hits the spot every single time.

This delicious easy recipe is gluten free and can easily be made Whole30 compliant, Paleo friendly, and dairy free. Keep reading to learn how to make garlic butter steak bites and add them to your menu ASAP!
The best cut of steak to use for this recipe is a tender cut with not much visible fat. My personal favorite cut of steak to use is top sirloin.
The meat is tender, easy to cut into bites, and is not marbled with a lot of fat which makes it a great choice for this recipe. New York strip steak, tenderloin, or rib eye would be a few other great options.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Steak: Cut the steak into bite size pieces, roughly one-inch cubes. Try to cut the steak into even sized pieces so that they cook evenly.
Butter or Ghee: If you are using butter for this recipe, I highly recommend using a pasture-raised butter like Kerrygold because it will have more flavor. If you need to keep this recipe dairy-free, use a pasture-raised ghee.
Fresh Garlic: This recipe is called garlic butter steak bites for no reason. Cloves of fresh garlic give the steak so much flavor.
Salt and Pepper: A simple and classic combination that adds so much flavor to steak.
Parsley: Fresh parsley works best but if you don’t have any feel free to leave it off or use dried.
Green Onion: For garnish and to add even more flavor.
Red Pepper Flakes: Adds a little spice! If you do not like spice feel free to leave this ingredient out.
How To Make Garlic Butter Steak Bites
Step One: Cut the steak into one-inch bite size pieces and then season with it with the salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Step Two: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and then add avocado oil to the hot skillet. Next, add the steak, in a single layer, to the pan.
Cook the steak bites for three or four minutes until brown, stirring occasionally. You may have to do this in batches depending on the size of your skillet. Once the steak is brown, remove it from the pan.
Step Three: Remove any excess water from the skillet and then add the butter or ghee to the pan. Next add the minced garlic and saute for one minute.
Step Four: Next add your steak back to the pan and cook for one to two minutes. While the steak is cooking, stir to coat it in the garlic butter sauce.
After the steak is finished cooking, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Garnish the steak with sliced green onion and serve immediately.
Can You Add In Extra Veggies?
Yes, if you would like! You can add in quick cooking veggies like onion, zucchini, or bell peppers.
Can I Make These Garlic Butter Steak Bites Whole30 Compliant?
Yes! To make this recipe Whole30 compliant you would just need to use a Whole30 compliant ghee.
I Don’t Have Fresh Garlic – Can I Use Garlic Powder?
This recipe will not work well with garlic powder. If you do not have fresh garlic or just do not feel like peeling and mincing (I completely understand!) your best bet is to use You can use pre-minced garlic instead.
2 pounds of steak, cut into small bite size pieces
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tablespoons butter or ghee
6 cloves minced garlic
¼ cup chopped parsley
green onion, for garnish
Method
Season the steak bites with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes and stir until well coated.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the avocado oil to the hot skillet and then add the steak in a single layer. Cook the steak bites for 3-4 minutes until brown, stirring occasionally. You may have to do this in batches depending on the size of your skillet. Once the steak is brown, remove it from the pan.
Remove any excess water from the skillet and then add the butter or ghee to the pan. Next add the garlic and saute for 1 minute.
Add the steak back to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes stirring to coat it in the butter sauce. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Garnish with green onion and serve immediately.
Excellent! Made this in different proportions because I didn’t have enough meat, but it came out perfectly and both my teen girls went nuts for it which really surprised me. Husband was also a big fan. Thank you! Will make again!
Seriously, one of my favorite weeknight meals. It comes together so fast and is really versatile. My favorite is to use the same pan to sauté some mushrooms so they get the butter and steak goodness too. This week I added in some soy sauce at the very end to eat with some leftover fried rice!
Always delicious and wholesome!
Delicious! Didn’t have parsley or green onions, used kerrygold butter and the cut of steak recommended and it was delightful! Came together quickly as promised.
So quick and easy. Very versatile too. We used sirloin and served with cauliflower mash. We only had unsalted butter on hand, so we used a little extra salt. Delicious!
This looks delish! Have you ever made it ahead of time (same day but served later)? I am hosting a bday girls night evening and wondered if I could make this ahead of time and hear back up without loosing the consistency of the steak?
Hi Kara! You can if you prefer! If you’re worried about the consistency, I’d recommend cooking the steak bites until they’re medium. That way, when you reheat the steak, you won’t have to worry about it being overcooked. Thanks for your question!
This recipe was soooooo flavorful! And it was finished in about 20 minutes, which in my book is a perfect recipe! I used flat iron steak and it was soo juicy and tender. I will be adding this to my dinner rotation. Thank you so much for this!
This was so easy and tasted soooo good! I am not a big steak fan, but I will definitely do this again! We served it with roasted asparagus and a rice medley.
These were SO easy and delicious! The recipe is simple and quick, which leaves room for you to be creative with the additional parts to complete the meal. We served this last night with jasmine rice and roasted broccoli, but I’m thinking of making smaller cubes next week and serving as tacos. DELISH!
Very simple, but delicious! I made this for the first time a few weeks ago and now make it weekly. I always have that one random steak my husband and I rock paper scissors for … but now I just do this and we split it with a ton of veggies! It makes for an inexpensive and delicious meal. Making it tonight and just had to write a review!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was a huge hit! I made steak and chicken because some of my kids aren’t steak fans, and the recipe worked well for both! I will be making this again soon!
Made this for my husband and I, we absolutely loved it and can’t wait to make it again. Our almost 2 year old even had some and kept asking for more. Will definitely become a monthly dinner!
Just made this for dinner tonight — SO GOOD. Love finding a recipe that doesn’t have too many ingredients or steps and has a lot of flavor. Will definitely be making this again and again.
So easy and so delicious! Subbed cilantro for the parsley bc that’s what I had. Made a extra garlic ghee and cooked a package of cauliflower rice in that, seasoned with salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and cilantro, added some spinach that was looking sad, and my bowl was complete! Another wonderful recipe!
I’ve made this twice now and my family loves it. Have added zucchini, red bell pepper and onion for a complete and yummy meal in one pan. So easy and delicious! Thank you
Made this recipe just as it’s written and it was delicious!! Definitely something great to make again and again. Also, cooking steak bites vs a whole steak was much less intimidating to me for some reason – so I much prefer this method over a full steak!
This recipe was even quicker and easier and YUMMIER than I thought possible. The meat packed so much flavor for so little prep. I love that it can is done in one skillet. Thanks so much for crafting this, Ashlea!
Hi there!
I am trying to print out some of your recipes and there are a TON of pop up ads all over my printed recipe. I don’t know if it’s something you can do on your end, but it’s not happening on other blogger’s sites. Just FYI. I can deal with it if I need to, but it leaves off some of the ingredients and directions when I print it out.
Thanks! Excited to try your garlic bites tonight!
I’ve made this twice now and it’s just insanely good. Literally couldn’t be easier and the flavor from the red pepper flakes and garlic is MWAH! I added fresh chopped asparagus into mine and it’s an awesome combo. Have passed this on to a bunch of friends and can’t wait to make it again!
Finally made this recipe after talking about it for weeks and it was AH-mazing! So flavorful and still tender. I added mushrooms to the pan after the steak was done. It was a delicious dinner 😋
I made this for my family the other night. SUPER.BIG.HIT!! So quick and I love the simplicity and the flavor. My kids have asked if we can have this every night! This is definitely in our rotation. Thank you for your amazing, healthy recipes. I can’t wait to try another of your recipes!

What is the best steak (most tender) to use for this recipe? Sounds delicious!
Hi, Barb! I cover this in the blog post.
Can this be made in a pressure cooker?
★★★★★
Hi, Fran! I would not recommend that as it will likely overcook the steak.
I used this with my Butcher Box stew meat and the family definitely agrees the best way to use stew meat!
