The Best Dry Rub for Ribs
Dry rib rub is my secret weapon for making delicious ribs that leave you practically licking your plate. That said, store-bought blends often come with ingredients I don’t love and they can be expensive.
So, I make my own instead! It uses a handful of simple, pantry staple items you likely already have on hand. All you have to do is combine them, and your rub is ready to go. And the best part? It stores well so you can keep a jar on hand for mouthwatering meals whenever a craving hits!
Recipe Ingredients
- Brown sugar
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Dry mustard
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Oregano
- Paprika
- Celery seed
- Cayenne pepper (adjust to taste if you don’t love spice)
How to Make This Rib Dry Rub Recipe
Step One: Add all the spices and brown sugar to a small mixing bowl.
Step Two: Whisk until everything is well combined, and use right away. Or, store your rub for later!
How to Use
I love to use this dry rub for ribs with my Oven Baked Ribs, but it pairs well with all your favorite rib recipes. You can even test it out with other proteins like chicken or pork!
Rub a generous amount over your meat, ensuring it gets into every nook and cranny. Then, proceed with the recipe you’re using.
How to Store
Store leftover dry rib rub in an airtight container at room temperature. Make sure there are no holes or cracks, or it will clump! Otherwise, the rub will stay fresh for up to 6 months.
If the color changes or the aroma starts to become weak, you’ll know it’s time to make a new batch.
