Recipe Ingredients
Brie: you’ll need 8 ounces of brie for this recipe. You can usually find it in the specialty cheese section of your local grocery store.
Fig Jam: the sweetness of the jam pairs so well with the brie.
Chopped Walnuts: you’ll use these to make a delicious crunchy topping for the baked brie.
Honey: you’ll use a few tablespoons in the walnut topping.
Orange Zest: I really wanted to make sure this baked brie had the ultimate flavor so I added a bit of orange zest to the topping. It pairs perfectly with the brie and the fig jam!
Fresh Thyme Leaves: I love the flavor that fresh thyme adds to the brie.
Ingredient Variations
- Jam – not a fan of fig jam? Use your favorite! Cranberry or apricot would be delicious.
- Nuts – feel free to substitute chopped pecans for walnuts.
- Honey – maple syrup will also work if preferred.
How to Bake Brie with Jam
Step One: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and line a small baking dish or small cast iron skillet with parchment paper.
Step Two: Use a sharp knife to score the brie, making diagonal cuts into the top rind. Be careful not to cut too deep into the cheese! Then, turn the brie, making another set of diagonal cuts into the rind so that you have a cross-hatched top. Keep the rind on to help the cheese hold its shape!
Step Three: Spread the fig jam over the top of the sliced brie in an even layer.
Step Four: Next, add the walnuts, honey, orange zest, thyme leaves, salt, and pepper to a small bowl, and stir to combine. Top the brie with the walnut mixture.
Step Five: Bake the brie in the baking dish or skillet for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cheese is soft to the touch.
Step Six: Drizzle a bit of honey on top, and garnish with more fresh thyme leaves. Serve warm with your dippers of choice!
Ways to Serve
Baked brie is typically served as a dip, which is fun because there are endless ways to enjoy it. It’s perfect for holiday parties yet easy enough for an everyday snack! I love to serve this recipe with crostini and apple slices, but it’s also great with:
- Pita
- Crackers
- Baguette Slices
How to Store and Reheat
Baked brie is best served right away while it’s still warm. However, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days.
To serve, reheat the cheese in the oven at 350 degrees just until it’s warmed through. Be careful not to let it burn!
