The Best Brown Sugar Simple Syrup Recipe

Simple syrup is a liquid sweetener made from a combination of some form of sugar and water. It comes in a wide variety of flavors and is used to sweeten and enhance everything from lattes to salad dressings. 

This brown sugar simple syrup recipe is exactly what you need to sweeten your favorite fall-inspired lattes and teas. It’s incredibly easy to make, comes together in minutes and you can use it for a variety of recipes like my Pumpkin Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso recipe!

Recipe Ingredients

Dark Brown Sugar: you’ll need 1 cup of dark brown sugar as the base of this recipe. 

Water: use one cup of filtered water to dilute the brown sugar and create the syrup consistency.

How to Make Simple Syrup Using Brown Sugar

Step One: Add the brown sugar and water to a small pot. 

Step Two: Heat the mixture over medium heat until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Make sure it doesn’t boil! 

Step Three: Remove the pot from the heat, and allow the syrup to cool. Then, transfer it to an airtight storage container.

Ways to Use

Most often, you’ll find brown sugar simple syrup in drinks, but there are so many ways to put it to use! Some of my favorite options include: 

  1. In hot or cold coffees like my pumpkin brown sugar shaken espressoiced honey cinnamon latte, or homemade gingerbread latte
  2. Adding extra flavor to black and herbal teas (this would be delicious in a chai latte)
  3. To sweeten fun fall-inspired cocktails and mocktails
  4. Drizzled over grilled pineapple or peaches

How to Store

Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one month.

Instructions

  1. Add the brown sugar and water to a small pot. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Don’t let the mixture boil. Remove the pot from the heat and allow the syrup re to cool.
  2. Once cool, transfer to an air-tight storage container.
