One of my top requests from readers is quick recipes and I’m always happy to oblige. This Ground Beef and Broccoli recipe is an even faster twist on my popular healthy beef and broccoli dish. With all the savory flavors you know and love, it comes together and in one skillet and takes less than 20 minutes to make. It’s the perfect quick and easy meal to make on busy weeknights!
One-Skillet Ground Beef and Broccoli
I love a good stir fry recipe because they’re quick, filling, and really easy to make with whatever you have in the fridge at the time. My healthy chicken and broccoli stir fry and shrimp and broccoli stir fry are two of my favorites and my healthy beef and broccoli has been a reader favorite recipe for years. So, I decided to make a ground beef version, too. Inspired by the classic takeout dish, it’s hearty, savory, full of flavor, and so easy to make!
All you need is a large skillet and a few minutes, and dinner is served. Serve the stir fry over rice (use your favorite frozen brand to keep things extra easy) and that’s it! Even picky eaters, who always complain about the veggies, will be clearing their plates!

Recipe Ingredients
This is an overview of the main ingredients in this recipe. See the recipe card for full ingredients and instructions below.
- Ground Beef: I like to use 90% or 93% lean ground beef for this recipe. It has great flavor and there’s also less fat so you don’t have to spend time draining the meat.
- Garlic & Ginger: must haves to add flavor! use your favorite crushed frozen version to save yourself even more time.
- Red Pepper Flakes: I love to include these for a kick of spice. Use more or less to taste.
- Broccoli Florets: you need around 4 cups of fresh broccoli florets to make this dish. I like to grab pre-chopped florets to save even more time.
- Stir-Fry Sauce: I create a simple homemade sauce by combining low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, and arrowroot or cornstarch. I’ve also used my homemade stir-fry sauce when I have it on hand, and it tastes just as great!

How to Make a Stir-Fry Ground Beef and Broccoli Recipe
- Brown the beef. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, and season one side of the ground beef with salt and pepper. Once hot, add oil to the skillet, and place the beef seasoned side down. Sear on one side. Then, flip, break up the meat, and stir in the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Transfer the cooked beef from the pan.
- Make the stir-fry sauce. While the beef cooks, whisk all the stir-fry sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
- Cook the broccoli. Add the broccoli to the pan along with water, and cook just until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
- Combine. Add the ground beef back to the pan, followed by the stir-fry sauce. Stir to combine, and cook to thicken the sauce slightly. Enjoy warm!

My Favorite Ways to Serve
I always serve my ground beef and broccoli over steamed rice, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice with a sprinkle of green onions and sesame seeds. It’s also delicious with noodles or fried rice if that’s what you prefer.
How to Store
Store leftover ground beef and broccoli in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also freeze leftovers for up to 2-3 months!
To serve, thaw in the fridge overnight. Then, reheat leftovers in a skillet over medium heat or in 30-second increments in the microwave.

Description
One of my top requests from readers is quick recipes and I’m always happy to oblige. This Ground Beef and Broccoli recipe is an even faster twist on my popular healthy beef and broccoli dish. With all the savory flavors you know and love, it comes together and in one skillet and takes less than 20 minutes to make. It’s the perfect quick and easy meal to make on busy weeknights!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef (93/7)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup green onion
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Stir Fry Sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon arrowroot starch or cornstarch
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season one side of the ground beef liberally with salt and pepper.
- Cook the beef: Once the skillet is hot, add the oil and then flip the seasoned side of the ground beef into the skillet. Sear the beef for 5-6 minutes on one side and then flip and break the meat up. Add the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to the beef as it continues to cook. Once the ground beef is no longer pink, remove it from the pan.
- While the ground beef is cooking, make the stir fry sauce. Add the coconut aminos, sesame oil, red pepper, and arrowroot starch to a small bowl and whisk until well combined.
- Once the ground beef has been removed from the pan, add in the broccoli florets and ⅓ cup of water. Cook the broccoli until it is bright green and slightly tender but still has crunch; around 4-5 minutes depending on the size of the broccoli florets.
- Add the ground beef and any juices back to the skillet and then add the stir fry sauce. Give everything a stir to combine the beef, broccoli, and sauce and cook for one more minute. The sauce should thicken a bit as it heats.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the sliced green onions. Garnish with sesame seeds and then serve the stir-fry immediately with steamed rice.
