What Is Miso Glaze?
Miso glaze is a condiment made with miso paste and other ingredients to create a sticky consistency. Sweet, savory, and created with a hint of heat, it can be used to add flavor to everything from vegetables to tofu!
What is Miso Glaze Made Of?
White Miso Paste: You can usually find miso paste in the refrigerated section. If you can’t find white miso you can swap it for red instead.
Soy Sauce: Feel free to swap this for coconut aminos if that’s what you prefer.
Rice Vinegar: This adds a sweet, tart flavor to the glaze.
Honey: We use this for the perfect touch of sweetness, but feel free to use maple syrup instead.
Sesame Oil: Adds a subtle nutty taste. You can usually find this in the Asian section of your local grocery store.
Sriracha: This chili sauce adds a bit of heat. Feel free to add more or less depending on your personal preferences.
Lime juice: Freshly squeezed is best! The acidity helps cut through some of the heaviness of the sauce, adding a bright citrus flavor to the glaze.

On its own, miso paste is salty with hints of tanginess. However, when combined with other ingredients in a glaze, it becomes slightly sweet with a touch of spiciness.

Soy sauce is a common substitute for miso glaze, but the flavor won’t have quite as much depth.
How can I use this miso glaze recipe?
My favorite way to use this recipe is in my miso glazed salmon rice bowls! However, it’s great as a marinade with all your favorite protein sources like fish, chicken, or tofu. Or, use it as a sauce with stir-fry recipes like shrimp and broccoli stir fry or roasted veggies.
