This creamy Strawberry Matcha recipe is slightly sweet, fruity, and makes you feel like you’ve got a coffee shop at home. It’s incredibly easy to make and the perfect drink to start the day or a delicious afternoon pick-me-up!
The Best Homemade Strawberry Matcha Recipe
I decided to cut back on caffeine last year and start drinking decaf, half-caff, or matcha tea instead. It’s been one the best things I’ve done. I’m sleeping better, not feeling jittery, and just all around feeling better.
While matcha still has caffeine, it has less than coffee and it does not have the same effect on me as coffee. I love it. I’ve been experimenting with different flavor combinations and this strawberry matcha latte has become one of my favorites. It’s slightly sweet, creamy, fruity, and really good variation of traditional matcha. Not only is it delicious, it’s also easy to make, and quite a bit more budget friendly than grabbing a matcha from a coffee shop. If you like matcha, I think you’re going to love this recipe and trust me, it really is easy to make!
Recipe Ingredients
Strawberry Jam: you can use homemade or store-bought strawberry jam for this recipe. Either will work to make the quick and easy strawberry milk.
Oat Milk: I love the creaminess of oat milk in matcha but you could use whatever milk you prefer.
Vanilla Extract: you’ll need just a bit to ad to the strawberry milk.
Maple Syrup: this is optional but adds an extra touch of sweetness to the matcha that I personally like. Feel free to leave it out if you prefer your matcha less sweet.
Hot Water: you’ll want to use hot, not boiling water, to dissolve the matcha powder before adding it to the drink.
Ceremonial Grade Matcha: make sure to use a high-quality matcha powder for the best taste and texture. This is my favorite matcha powder that I drink almost every day.

How to Make a Strawberry Matcha Latte
Step One: Add the strawberry jam, oat milk, vanilla extract, and maple syrup to a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
Step Two: Next, whisk the matcha powder and hot water in a small bowl until the matcha is fully dissolved.
Step Three: Add ice cubes to a glass. Then, pour the strawberry milk over the ice, and pour in the matcha. Enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
- Use more or less matcha powder. Depending on how you like your matcha you can one or two teaspoons of matcha powder to the hot water. I like to use 2 teaspoons but make it to your preference.
- Don’t let the water boil! Using boiling water with matcha can cause it to become bitter. So, you want to use hot, but not boiling, water instead.
- Use a whisk or milk frother to thoroughly mix the matcha and water before pouring it over the ice. You want to be sure there are no clumps of matcha remaining, or your drink will taste grainy.
- Swap the maple syrup for honey or another liquid sweetener if you prefer.
- Add as much or as little sweetener as you like! Feel free to make your matcha your own. If you like things on the sweeter side, go for it!
- Prefer a hot drink? Just heat up your milk before adding the other ingredients, and skip the ice. A milk frother would be great for this!
