Crispy Baked Garlic Parmesan Wings

Hot and crispy wings are absolutely undefeated. I have several wing recipes on All the Healthy Things and they are all my favorite but these – just might be my new favorite!

Watch How to Make This Recipe

The wings are baked, not fried, which is actually my personal preference and then tossed in this incredibly garlic herb sauce before being finished with plenty of fresh parmesan cheese. Seriously, they are so so good.

If you have ever wanted to get restaurant quality (or honestly better) wings at home then you need this recipe. It’s surprisingly simple, packed with garlic parmesan flavor, and the wings come out perfectly every single time.

Ingredients You Need

Split Chicken Wings: you’ll need “party” wings for this recipe that have been patted dry.

Baking Powder: I’ve made this recipe both with and without baking powder and both versions came out great! However, I do find that the baking powder helps to give the wings an even crispier texture.

Spices: the wings themselves will be seasoned with a bit of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

Unsalted Butter: this will be used for the garlic herb sauce that the wings will be tossed in after cooking.

Fresh Garlic: fresh is really the best option to get the most flavorful wings.

Lemon Zest: just a little goes a long way to help give these wings even more delicious flavor.

Fresh Parsley: chopped fresh parsley gives the wings more flavor and a little color.

Grated Parmesan: last but not least, the wings will be tossed in plenty of grated parmesan cheese.

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Wings

Step One: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step Two: Pat the chicken wings dry and then add them to a large mixing bowl. Add the avocado oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to the wings and until well coated.

Step Three: Place the chicken wings on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake the wings for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and the skin is crispy, flipping halfway through.

Step Four: When the wings are almost done, make the garlic herb sauce. Add the minced garlic, lemon zest, and fresh parsley to a small mixing bowl. Melt the butter over medium low heat in a small saucepan. Pour the warm butter over the garlic mixture and stir until well combined.

Step Five: Add the baked chicken wings to a large mixing bowl and drizzle the garlic herb butter over the wings. Add the grated parmesan and toss until the wings are well coated.

Step Six: Transfer the wings to a serving platter and garnish with additional parmesan and serve with celery, carrots, and blue cheese dressing or ranch!

Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings

Step One: Pat the wings dry and then toss with oil, salt, spices, and baking powder. Transfer the wings to the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Give the wings a shake or flip them halfway through to ensure they cook evenly.

Step Two: While the wings are cooking make the garlic herb sauce. Once the wings have finished cooking, toss them in the garlic herb sauce and parmesan and serve!

Air Fryer Method Notes

  • Make multiple batches – Depending on the size of your air fryer and the amount of chicken you are cooking, you may need to cook the wings in two batches instead of one.
  • Use less oil – If you are trying to cut down on the amount of oil you are using, you can use a half a tablespoon of oil for this recipe instead of the full tablespoon.

The Best Ways to Reheat

  • Air Fryer: If you have an air fryer, you can easily pop a few wings back into the air fryer to reheat. If your air fryer has a ‘reheat’ function you can use that or just air fry them again at 400 degrees for a few minutes until heated through.
  • Oven: Another great way to reheat buffalo wings is in the oven. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees then place the wings on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Pop them in the oven and heat for a few minutes until hot and crispy.

These wings came out sooo good! I let them air dry in the fridge for a couple of hours before seasoning and then used the air fryer instructions. So crispy and the garlic parm lemon zest flavoring was just *chef’s kiss*.

  7. I want to learn the healthy baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wing for my mom and I. I have followed this recipe twice. First for tryout. Second for St.Patrick day meal. Since I didn’t have lemon and avocado oil, I replaced it to zest Orange and extra virgin olive oil. The This recipe was too good and tasty. Especially, the orange..it was just right as zest lemon. It was delicious. I would make it again and again. Thank you for recipe.
