My Very Favorite Snack Mix

Ok, this ranch snack mix is my new favorite thing!! Every year I make my homemade chex mix around Christmas to snack on while we watch Christmas movies or decorate the tree and it’s so good. I love my original version but I wanted to try playing with the flavors a bit and this ranch snack mix is what I came up with!

This recipe takes my beloved chex mix to a new level with extra herbs and the addition of my beloved goldfish, haha. This recipe is so easy to make, incredibly flavorful, and really easy to customize and make your own. Whether you’re enjoying it around the holidays or serving it as a game day app, everyone will love it!

Snack Mix Ingredients

Chex Cereal: we’re using a variety of regular rice Chex and corn Chex cereals for a variety of tastes and textures.

Bagel Chips: garlic bagel chips are what I use, but you could substitute any other flavor you like best.

Pretzels: Tiny Twists pretzels add extra crunch.

Goldfish: I like to use regular goldfish, but you could use extra cheesy or another flavor if you like!

Cheeze-Its: yes we’re adding both goldfish and cheez-its! they’re different and they both add something special, ok?!

Butter: I like to use unsalted butter to ensure this Ranch snack mix recipe isn’t too salty.

Seasonings: paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dried dill, dried chives, dried parsley, cayenne, dry mustard, and salt create a bold, savory, tangy, Ranch dressing-inspired taste.

Sugar: just a pinch helps to balance the rest of the ingredients.

Worcestershire Sauce: trust me on this! a little goes a long way to add that extra bit of flavor.

Tips and Variations

  • Work in batches. For the best results, arrange the ingredients in a single layer on your baking sheet. If needed, you can use two baking sheets, and bake them side by side or one after the other.
  • Want more crunch? Mix in your favorite nuts like peanuts, almonds, or cashews.
  • For more bulk, you can add extra cereal or any of the other mix-ins. My husband loves when I add extra cheez-its to the mix.
  • Skip the individual seasonings, and use a Ranch seasoning mix. Or, switch up the flavor entirely with your favorite spice blend.
  • Allow the snack mix to cool completely before storing or it will condense and become soggy. Letting it set out on the counter to cool completely is the best idea!
