My Favorite Apple Recipes for Every Season

Fall isn’t completely without plenty of apples. This time of year is when they are the absolute best. Sweet, crisp, easy to find, and perfect for snacking on their own or adding to a variety of recipes.

And if you need a little inspiration, I’ve got you covered! There’s a little something for everyone on this list including smoothies, muffins, and cake. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or looking to impress a crowd, I’ve got you covered with this list of delicious apple recipes!

The Best Way to Store Apples

The best way to store apples and keep them fresh depends on their form.

  • Whole apples are best kept in the fridge in a plastic bag wrapped with a damp paper towel or in a crisper drawer. They’ll stay fresh for 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Cut apples should be tossed with lemon juice, transferred to an airtight container, and stored in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh for 3 to 5 days.
  • Dried apples are best kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place at room temperature or in teh freezer. Stored at room temperature, they’ll stay fresh for up to 6 months and will keep in the freezer for up to a year!

Can I Freeze Fresh Apples?

Yes! You can freeze fresh, uncooked apples whole or sliced. To do so, transfer whole apples to a sealable freezer bag. Or, toss sliced apples in lemon juice, and transfer them to a sealable bag.

Freeze for up to 6 to 9 months, and thaw in the fridge overnight. Keep in mind that frozen apples may lose some of their taste and texture, becoming slightly more mushy. As a result, they’re best used in recipes like smoothies, crumbles, and crisps.

What 4 Apples are Best Used for Baking?

The most popular apples for baking are varieties that are firm and crisp with a fairly sweet flavor. I personally love Granny Smith, Pink Lady, and Honeycrisp.
